Warning: the food in Charleston will make you want to eat all the time!
Charleston has a well-earned reputation for its cuisine, and I’m not just talking seafood! In fact, I bet that a number of tourists come
here just to eat. We have a list of great chefs who call Charleston home.
Whenever I’m asked about my favorite places to eat, I usually have to place them all in categories. And, although I do not consider
myself a food critic, I can tell you about the places I’ve enjoyed.
Here are my suggestions, in no particular order:
The Peninsula (Historic Area). All of these restaurants have atmosphere to the max! Oddly enough,
they are all within walking distance of one another.
o Slightly North Of Broad ( SNOB)
o High Cotton o Magnolia’s
o Blossom
o Cypress
o Fulton 5
Historic Area, but not as old
o Market Pavilion Hotel - Grill 225 and Roof Top Bar
o Charleston Place Hotel (Palmetto Grille)
o Planters Inn/Peninsula Grill
o Wentworth Mansion
Dining on the water
o Fleet Landing
o The Variety Store & Restaurant at the City Marina
o Mimi’s Creekside Café
o Bowen’s Island near Folly
Slightly Off the Beaten Path
o Rue de Jean
o Basil
o Chai Tapas Bar
o La Fourchette
