historic downtown peninsula of Charleston. Living in this area of Charleston affords one the ease of getting to any part of Charleston, because
of The James Island Connector, which will take you to the wonderful array of downtown shopping, dining, historic tours and much more in less than
five minutes.
The schools in the area are highly desirable for both administration and teaching with James Island Charter High School among the best in the
Charleston area.. Porter Gaud, a highly acclaimed private school, is also just a few minutes away.
Country Club II is adjacent to The Country Club of Charleston, the oldest country club in The United States. This neighborhood, along with
nearby Country Club I, is very much a golf-cart community with families enjoying their neighborhood outings by golf cart be it just to get some
fresh air, "walk the dog", visit a neighbor or to head-off for a game of golf at the club.
The Fourth of July brings out the best in friendly competition when everyone prepares their respective golf-carts for the annual parade and
festivities in celebration of our nation’s independence. July 4th is a day that stands out in the hearts and minds of all Charlestonians, whose
forefathers fought bravely for their separation from England.
And, of course on the note of history one can spend months combing James Island for its historical forts and battles in both The Revolutionary
War, as well as The Civil War, which locals prefer calling "The War Between The States" or "The Wah of Nawthun’ Aggression"!
And, as the year comes to an end, the camaraderie in Country Club II once again revels in preparation for the annual Christmas parade and
festivities. Hosted by one of the Country Club II families, it brings out the entire neighborhood from infants to great-grandparents with
golf-carts, once again, donning their Christmas finery, as they are led through the quiet streets by the local firemen on their very large, red
"sleigh".
So, if you haven’t driven through Country Club II, while looking around the area for the perfect neighborhood, you should visit
soon. There is no through-traffic; just people... walking, jogging, biking and, oh yes... should it be late afternoon you may see some of
residents catching the sunset, as they ride the quiet streets in their golf-carts with a late afternoon cocktail in hand.
The perfect ending to a perfect day in a perfect neighborhood...they don’t make them like that anymore, do they?Country Club II on James
